Danette L. O’Connell - Founder and Executive Director
Danette O'Connell is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in helping nonprofit organizations achieve their goals. She has been actively engaged in this field since 2004, utilizing her expertise in divergent entrepreneurial thinking to empower these organizations. Her notable achievements include an impressive track record of growing membership organizations by a staggering 380% year over year since 2018.
With over two decades of experience, Ms. O'Connell has proven her ability to strategically position organizations for success in various scenarios, including dynamic start-ups, turnaround situations, mergers, and periods of accelerated growth. Her dedication to nonprofit transformation is a central focus of her career, and she excels in managing all aspects of this process.
In terms of her educational background, she holds an MBA in International Business, indicating her expertise in global business practices. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and an Associate's degree in Computer Management, demonstrating her well-rounded knowledge and skills in the business and technology realms.
Deputy Director
Jeanné Weidemann serves as the Deputy Director at The Nonprofit Cooperative, bringing nearly four years of dedicated experience to the organization’s team. With a background rooted in community engagement and creative strategy, she helps shape TNC’s presence and supports the programs that serve nonprofit leaders.
Throughout her tenure, Jeanné has helped in creating and hosting events, and brainstorms new ideas with Executive Director Danette to keep offerings fresh and relevant. She also supports programs run by TNC through our vetted members, helping nonprofit associates access opportunities and resources that strengthen their missions.
Over the years, Jeanné has grown to deeply understand the pressure nonprofits are under. Her heart is to help them succeed, both through the work TNC does and through the free resources we offer to our community through our vetted trusted members.
In her free time, Jeanné continues her commitment to service through volunteer work at her church and within her local community. She enjoys spending quality time with her family, creating cherished memories in their coastal town of Mossel Bay, South Africa.

Director of Marketing and Programs
Heidi Barron is an accomplished healthcare executive with over 20 years of senior leadership experience at Boston Scientific, a Fortune 500 medical device company. As Global Vice President, she revolutionized healthcare provider training through innovative solutions and strategic vision, while overseeing clinical education operations with substantial budget responsibility. During her tenure at Boston Scientific, Heidi led global marketing initiatives across the US and Europe, launched 18 products globally generating over $1B in cumulative revenue, and established new industry benchmarks for professional training. Her innovative approach to business challenges resulted in significant market share growth and long-term revenue generation through strategic investments.
In 2024, Heidi transitioned to the non-profit sector, where she now leverages her extensive leadership experience to drive growth and innovation in mission-driven organizations. Passionate about creating opportunities for others, she actively volunteers with the Women's Impact Network at Harlem Lacrosse and as a coach with Girls on the Run International, mentoring young women and helping them develop confidence and leadership skills.
